Cinder Creek Pavilion
Tucked away in the Preserve, off Blue Heron Pond Road on the eastern part of Kiawah, is the association's Cinder Creek pavilion, a charmingly rustic little lodge. The pavilion, which sits at water's edge, is available to members for parties and special events.
Those who haven't visited this asset to our island are in for a treat when they see this small complex, which blends into its setting so harmoniously. With its canopy of trees and gorgeous views of the creek, it's truly one of the most breathtaking spots on Kiawah.
The simple structures are accented with real twigs and branches and have a natural romance that lends itself to many types of gatherings. A graceful, casually elegant wedding, a lazy picnic with extended family, or a block party with neighbors all work well at the pavilion. Open to the air but screened all around, the cottage has a large wood-burning fireplace to make brisk evenings cozy. There is an attractive outbuilding with bathrooms, a scenic boathouse for canoe or kayak storage and a dock over the water.
The pavilion is available for rent to Type A KICA members in good standing. Guests must be accompanied by the member applicant.  Rental agreements may be found at KICA’s Sandcastle Community Center at 1 Shipwatch Road (843-768-3875 or Sandcastle@kica.us).

There are several rules to ensure the tranquility and beauty of the Preserve. These include stipulations that gatherings be limited to 75 guests, noise levels must be considerate, all events must be held between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. and only non-motorized boats will be permitted at the property.
