Kiawah Island Parkway Paving
Update: May 18, 2006
Paving of the Kiawah Island Parkway is complete (ahead of schedule!) as of 4:30am on May 18. The construction crew will be adding line striping, turn arrows, stop bars, and reflectors over the next few days. Please continue to drive with care in the work zones.
Evening work to re-pave Kiawah Island Parkway from the Main Gate to just
beyond the Vanderhorst gate began Sunday, April 30, 2006, at 8:00 p.m.
Work is anticipated to be complete by May 26, weather permitting.
Work will occur evenings only from Sundays through Thursdays
between the hours of 8:00pm and 6:00am (so will occur weekly from Sunday
evening/Monday morning through Thursday evening/Friday morning). No
work will occur during the days or during Friday and Saturday
nights.
We expect that during the days, both lanes of the Parkway will be passable.
However, in the evenings starting at 8:00pm, one lane of traffic
will be kept open, to the extent practical. We anticipate increased truck traffic
on side
streets due to asphalt trucks turning around, or detouring
around the
construction area to access the site in a certain direction.
Bright night
lighting will be used for the construction process.
While delays will be kept to a minimum, we encourage you to
allow additional travel time in the evenings during the week. Please drive
with
care in the work zones.

We appreciate your patience to keep the infrastructure in
prime condition, but believe that the results will be worth the wait. |
